Soccer match in Chicago
The one thing I love about summer is the endless possibilities of things to do at the spare moment. For example, one of my friends posted on Facebook asking anybody if they wanted free tickets to watch a soccer match in Chicago at Wrigley Field. Within seconds I quickly responded and got four free tickets, and the only thing I had to purchase was the bus ticket from Milwaukee. I asked three of my friends to join me and they quickly responded as well. As we arrived in Chicago I was excited to watch one of my favorite Italian team AS Roma play against a Polish team Lublin. The city was filled with people dressed up in their team uniform and colors. Another remarkable thing about this event was this was the first soccer game at Wrigley Field, and I was able to witness a historical event. Once the game kicked off AS Roma scored within a minute, and they didn’t stop there. Throughout the match both teams played a tough match, but AS Roma played harder. I made sure since I was in Chicago I ate some of my favorite dishes such as the Italian beef sandwich, a real deep dish pizza, and a Chicago hot dog without ketchup. The second half of the match AS Roma still controlled the game and was able to shutout the Polish team 4-0. My friends and I were glad we had the chance to watch an awesome match and be in Chicago. After the game we walked around the city before heading back to Wisconsin. It was a fun day trip, and I am looking forward for more random days of summer.

Journey to Barcelona
Bonjour mates, welcome aboard to a journey to Barcelona, but before arriving I had a two day journey on the train. Since it took a long time to arrive in Barcelona, we booked a room at Kyraid Hotel in Nice, France as a layover to break up the long journey. From Rome, Italy to Nice, France we had to take three trains. To keep myself occupied throughout the journey I played different card games, ate a lot of junk food, and listened to music. The trip felt even longer because I was anxious to get off the train to stretch out and get some fresh air. As we arrived in Nice, we reserved our next train ticket to Barcelona. As a tip for the Eurorail pass ticket, many trains required a reservation ticket for your next destination to ensure a place on the train. There is an additional cost for reservation tickets. Once we found our hotel at Kyraid we quickly changed clothes to head off to the beach. We were super excited for the beach because we’ve been inland since our Dublin trip. Once we got to the beach we found out that it was filled with huge stone rocks and very hard to walk bare foot. We continued to walk to check out the water, but then we realized the water was super cold, although the weather was warm and beautiful. As I looked around I noticed people playing soccer on the beach. I quickly walked over to see if I could join in and play and the people said yeah. I was super excited because I have not played soccer for three weeks, and watching the soccer matches on television did not fix the urge to play the sport I love. Afterwards we headed back to the hotel to get ready for our second part of our train journey to Barcelona. In our next journey we will be exploring the lovely country of Spain. Catch you soon!

Alumni Soccer Game at Marian University
G’day Mates! On April 28, I had the opportunity to play in the alumni soccer game for Marian University. It has been two years, already since playing college soccer and I miss it a lot. Each year I have a wonderful time catching up with former teammates, friends, and the new soccer players. That is one thing I loved about playing soccer at Marian because we are like family and lifetime friends. Of course being alumni we want to make sure we win because allowing a younger group to win is not an option; plus we must show them who is better. The game kicked off at 6:00 p.m. after the women alumni soccer game finished. It was a bit chilly, but once the game started running around made the weather feel a lot warmer. We took the early lead, and then the younger team tied us into half time. The second half we dominated the game with passes, defense, and challenged the goal keeper. As a result we won with the score being 3-1; overall it was a fun game. We all laughed having a good time while getting into shape. Afterwards we headed downtown to a local bar called Fat Joes where we had the reception. We enjoyed the night with free beer, food, and priceless memories remembering the past and present. I had a blast catching up with everyone; I wish we can have more events like this. I plan on staying in shape so I could play in future alumni games to improve my skill level. After a fun day my journey ends for now, but there are more to come, stay tuned!

October Weekend Wrap Up

This past weekend was filled with people dressing up and enjoying the weekend festivities. For me it was a normal relaxing weekend because I had the weekend off from work. I enjoyed spending the time with friends and catching up with my family since I haven’t heard from them in awhile. It is always nice catching up with my family because I only see them a couple times a year since I am three hours away and our schedules are always busy. Besides that my fun is always on Sunday once I start playing soccer at the YMCA in Oshkosh. We played another good game although we wind up tying the opposing team 3-3 after losing the lead with seven minutes left, but we fought hard to tie the game. Afterwards a group of friends from Moraine Park and I decided to go bowling at the Ledgeview Lanes in Fond du Lac. The Sunday specials were buy two games and get one free with cosmic bowling. I like bowling in the dark because the neon colors provide a unique atmosphere. To make bowling more fun we even decided to dress up in our costumes instead of the typical bowling clothing. I have pictures below of us bowling in our costumes. I recommend for anyone who is willing to do something out of the norm to try bowling dressed in their favorite characters. After two hours of bowling we finally finished three games then we decided to grab some food at Taco Bell since we burned so many calories bowling. I must say, the simplest things are the best way to have fun instead of planning things out because the expectations are not as high. That’s all for now until my next blog for the last day of October! Check you later!
Cheers,
Lee IV
