School in Full Session
On the second day of classes Student Government put together a welcome back event for students and staff on the Fond du Lac campuses. The sponsored event consisted of a Trivia game and free lunch. Students and staff had the opportunity to have a free lunch with a student/staff I.D. and the chance to win some great prizes. The event kicked off with the audience answering random trivia questions to win cash or gift cards from various locations. In one round I volunteered to go up front to compete with other students about geography subjects. After a quick round of questions and answers, I won a gift card and I was really pumped. There were several other rounds where other students did whatever it took to win cash prizes. It was funny seeing all the mini games and competition people did to win. I had a lot of fun meeting some new people and seeing people who I haven’t seen since the winter break. To catch more events like this you can check out the calendar on myMPTC for events this semester. So don’t just sit there, come out to meet new people and have some fun. Plus who doesn’t like to win? Catch you soon!

Culinary Club
As the semester is in full gear clubs around campus are kicking off to set up fun events for the new semester. I am currently involved in the Culinary Club at Moraine Park, and we are excited for the fun events ahead. Our first, big fundraiser of the year is Fondue Fest, and each year people have a great time eating food and learning about Moraine Park. This year we already have new members joining and we have our events lined up. Our second fundraiser we are doing this month is the Human Race. The Human Race is a fundraiser that allows clubs to raise money for their club or for a charity they choose. The Human Race is also an event where club members can participate in a 5K run at Lakeside Park on September 29 at 8:00 a.m. This year I signed up our club as the shake and bake crew, and we are pushing to raise $5,000 as a group. We are asking for any donation amount in person or online. If you want to donate online you can click on the link here http://humanrace2012.fdlvolunteer.com/2012/fdl/shakeandbakecrew/shakeandbakecrew/ to checkout our donation graph, and help us to reach our goal. I will keep you posted on our group, see you soon!

Jonathan Burns Visit MPTC
Recently as part of the student life back to college events, Jonathan Burns, kicked off his skills to the Moraine Park community. To start off the comedy hour students and staff were offered free lunch (chicken Alfredo with garlic bread). I had the opportunity to introduce Jonathan Burns before his performance. Jonathan Burns is known for his flexibility, curiosity, and goofiness around the world performing at universities, festivals, and events. During this time I enjoyed his clever tricks and jokes. Most of the things he was did were amazing and I couldn't believe some of the things he was able to pull off. I won't ruin anything for you but if you have the chance to see him, I recommend it because you will have a great time! To get a sneak preview of his work, check out his website at www.flexiblecomedy.com or his twitter account @ Jonathan Burns.

Welcome Back
Welcome Back to Moraine Park Ahoy Mates! Welcome back to another exciting semester. This is the time of the year when I get to meet new people, start new classes and enjoy a lot of exciting fun. This is my last semester at Moraine Park but I am excited to join the fun activities ahead. To kick off the semester student life welcomed back the Moraine Park Community with free food and fun live entertainment. On the first day of classes, students and staff including Moraine Park’s President Dr. Sheila Ruhland came to watch a professional speaker who uses the persona, wit and wisdom of Forrest Gump. Forrest Gump is one of my favorite movies of all time and I couldn't believe how much the speaker looked like Forrest Gump in the movie. I couldn't stay to watch the whole segment because I had class, but I heard the act was unique and fun. I was able to get a picture with Forrest Gump and like I said before this person looked exactly like Tom Hanks. I can tell already that this semester is going to be a busy, fun semester. So stay tuned and let the semester begin!

We are Futuremakers 2012
G’day Mates! February 28 was the day I finally finish my video for the We are Futuremakers competition. This competition was open to all the technical college students in Wisconsin. Students had the opportunity to feature in a video of why they are a Futuremaker. This was a fun process for me because I was able to create a video that showed my creativity inside and outside of school. To check out my video click on the link at http://www.wearefuturemakers.com/videocompetition/entry/id/269. You also have the chance to vote for my video and rate it, the more votes I get the better chance of winning. I hope you enjoy the video and let me know what you think! The last day to vote is March 17th! There are other videos you can check out on the website too. I will keep you informed on the progress of the video selection. In my next blog I’ll be talking about a new restaurant in town called Fat Joe’s. Until next time see you on the next voyage. Ciao! Cheers, Lee IV
