Wedding Season

Recently I had the opportunity to attend a friend’s wedding at the Holiday Inn in Fond du Lac. It was a beautiful day for a wedding and the ceremony was wonderful and fun. I was my friend Sean date and we didn’t realize how many people from the wedding party we knew personally. We had wonderful time watching the slideshow of how the married couples met, and listening to thestories from the wedding party. It is always fun hearing the stories they share, it is never a dull moment with them. Afterwards we started eating our dinner and which was good. I had a steak with mashed potatoes and corn. For dessert we had cupcakes and there was a fondue fountain made by Aimee from Blessed Bee Cupcakes. I was able to talk to her and see how her shop is doing, and of course the cupcakes were delicious. Shortly afterwards the dancing kicked off and we watched the father-daughter and mother-son dances. Everybody there had a wonderful time with each other and danced the night away. I was glad I was able to attend a wedding this summer because I missed the previous weddings when I was away on my trip. Well mates that is all for now, in my next blog I will write about my new job, stay tuned! Cheers, Lee IV

Nutrition Class

Ahoy mates, on April 3, I was super excited because it was my last nutrition class. Although, I had a great time learning a lot of useful information, but now I have more time to focus on my other classes, and prepare for the busy month ahead. The day started off with me passing out flyers for Blessed Bee Cupcakes and The Coffee House to promote their businesses, and to bring awareness of the project they are working on. The project is to benefit recovery and resurrection homes in Fond du Lac. This unique service impacts people of the community. To find more information you can check out the website at www.recoveryhomesfdl.com. I recommend participating in this project to help others who are in need.

Once I finished passing out flyers, I started to work on my mostaccioli recipe for my nutrition class. For our last class, our instructor Tom decided it would be a good idea to have a Last Supper theme. The purpose of this last meal was to show us how much food we are supposed to have if we follow our daily calories per meal number. For me I am only supposed to have 932 calories per meal, but It amazes me how little or how much food I can only have. Although it is not hard to calculate, but I find it difficult to count and decide how much of a portion size I am suppose to have per meal. Especially since I love to eat and try new food. I do recommend trying this method if you have any health concerns. Overall I enjoy this class because I was able to learn useful information about the foods we eat. I also enjoyed the research I did referring to use food as medicine, since I am not a big believer using the typical medicine found in stores. I think down the road I would take this class again to further my studies about nutrition values and medicine. We all enjoyed the food we made for our last class, and most importantly we learned a lot by having fun. Well mates after a hearty meal, it’s time for bed. I’ll catch you on the next voyage as we set sail to sweet home Chicago for a day!

Busy Monday

G’day mates! February 6, was a special day because it was my mother’s birthday. Although I wasn’t able to celebrate with her I did send a card to her in the mail, and she loved it! Sometimes it is hard not seeing my family all the time because we live three hours away, but I make sure we constantly keep in touch with our busy schedule either by phone, mail, or text. After I finish talking to my mother on the phone I got ready for my busy day of errands. I first went to H&R Block to file for my taxes, this process didn’t take as long as I expected. The staff members were friendly and they made sure any questions I had were answered, and made sure my tax return was a smooth return. Afterwards I headed down to Blessed Bee Cupcake because I couldn’t resist some cupcakes. The special for this week was Guinness and RumChata cupcakes, and they were delicious -- filled with moisture that was out of this world. Once I got my sweet tooth fix in I got ready for my classes.

In my catering class we worked on our personal catering business. It is pretty fun and creative to come up with a catering business and running it as a real business. The name of my business is called JukeboxLee catering service which specializes in tailgating party from different sporting events. Once class finished I quickly got ready for our culinary club meeting. We went over our agenda of upcoming events and creating committee groups to participate in upcoming fundraisers. Afterwards it was time for my Nutrition class. We discuss the nutrition values of food and talking about how they can be healthy or unhealthy. This class is very interesting because we are able to discuss the purpose of food and how it can improve people’s health. During our break time we were able to sample various types of eggs from another class of breakfast pasta and grain. They were learning how to cook eggs in different methods, and like I always say the best part of culinary is eating and sampling. I did over indulge myself with eggs, but it was well worth it! We finished class a little earlier, and then we were able to work on our assignment for the following week. It didn’t take me long to finish then I decided to go home and relax after a long busy Monday. Well mates, like always it is a pleasure to share my journey with you, until next time Ciao!

Cheers,
